PURPOSE REPORT

SEE WHAT'S OUT THERE

In 1983 an intrepid group of anglers, who spent their days exploring the globe and battling extreme elements, envisioned creating sunglasses that could stand up to the harsh environments they regularly encountered.

FORTY YEARS and countless adventures later, our mission has never wavered – to create the best sunglasses on the planet and protect the watery world we call home. Our brand pillars of EXPLORE, PERFORM, and PROTECT continue to inspire our efforts as a brand to create purpose-built products to keep us out on the water longer, doing what we love most.

Like the first edition, this purpose report serves as both our authenticator and accountability measure. We believe crafting the highest quality lenses and frames doesn’t mean taking advantage of the world around us. We work just as hard to protect our waterways and fisheries as we do to discover new ways to embrace them. Our commitment to preserving these places, all while

+ Continued Initiatives, including Kick Plastic® and OneCoast + Integrated Programs, like our familiar Trout Unlimited Costa 5 Rivers program and our new addition, Costa Compete + Conserve, in the bass space

This, our second Protect Report, is a reflection of our own journey through 2021 and 2022, building off the previous 38 years and setting our sights on raising the bar and leading the charge in pursuit of our higher calling.

+ Intentional Projects, leading with our Marlin Fly Project + Mission-aligned Conservation Partners, supporting 40+ coastal and freshwater organizations

Celebrating four decades of all that is Costa, this report highlights our work, together with our community, to protect the watery world for generations to come.

PRODUCT WITH PURPOSE As a brand, we have a responsibility to ourselves, our customers and the planet to minimize our impact. We recognize that every product we make has an environmental footprint, and when it comes to sustainability, we’ll never stop chasing the horizon. The far flung places we continuously seek are often found among the harshest conditions of intense heat, salty air and bright sun. With that in mind, Costa’s product design and production philosophy is simple – durability and longevity are the two most responsible paths we can take. Along our endless pursuits to see what’s out there, we are constantly searching for innovative technologies, materials, processes and partnerships that propel us forward on this journey to a more sustainable future.

UNTANGLED TM COLLECTION When you look through a pair of Costa Untangled™ sunglasses, you’re seeing our vision for healthier oceans —a vision of how high-performance sunglasses can inspire change and create a tangible, positive impact. Every year, an estimated 640,000 tons of discarded fishing gear makes its way into our waterways. Discarded fishing nets are the most harmful form of

plastic pollution in the ocean, but by partnering with our friends at Bureo® to collect and recycle fishing nets, we’re helping to change that. With frames made of 97% to 100% recycled fishing nets, our Untangled™ Collection of performance and lifestyle sunglasses are as good for fishing as they are for the ocean. Ever since the original Untangled™ Collection of sunglasses debuted in 2018, we began working with Bureo® to further advance the recycling and molding techniques to sustainably build frames better suited for long days on the water. In 2021, we expanded the collection to include four performance frames. The new frames [Santiago, Pargo, Antille and Caleta] are built from an upgraded NetPlus™ material with a 100% traceable supply chain, are made of 97% recycled fishing nets and a 3% performance additive, and feature recycled aluminum logos. That’s all paired with Costa's famed recyclable, colorenhancing, polarized 580® mineral glass lenses.

Through the production of the Untangled™ Collection, Costa is repurposing one ton of discarded fishing nets annually.

Santiago, the newest performance Untangled™ frame, won ICAST’s 2021 “New Product Showcase: Best in Show” award in the eyewear category.

PRO SERIES BUILT TO LAST Anglers know as well as anyone, the best can always get better. We’ve taken that sentiment to heart with our PRO Series. Costa’s line of legacy frames, rebuilt with six key performance features, is the definitive example of our commitment to durability and longevity, and its success is influencing how we design future products.

MATERIAL INNOVATION Along our endless pursuits to see what’s out there, we continue to search for the most durable, innovative and responsible materials available for crafting our gear.

Along with the polarized, color-enhancing 580® lens tech we’re known for, the features we added into these legendary Costa frames are designed to help anglers stay on the water even longer, despite the conditions. And like all of our injected frames, the PRO Series is built using our lightweight Bio-Resin™ 1, reducing the carbon footprint of traditional plastic frames, yet maintaining our tough durability standards. We sweat the details, so you don’t have to.

PARTNER PRODUCTS Our desire to create products with a purpose goes deeper than just how they’re made, it’s what they stand for. Our collection collaborations directly support the efforts of our partners working to better our watery world. The COSTA + OCEARCH® Collection includes sunglasses, shirts, and hats inspired by Great White Sharks & Tiger Sharks - the balance keepers of the ocean ecosystem we all love. Each purchase from the OCEARCH® collection helps fund shark research expeditions that generate critical data to protect what's out there.

The use of recycled materials doesn’t stop with our eyewear—we’ve found innovative ways to use NetPlus™, REPREVE® and other recycled materials in our apparel lines.

+ H at visor boards, made from 100% NetPlus™ Material of recycled fishing nets

+ T ech Shirts made from 100% recycled polyester + T ackle Hybrid Pants + Shorts made from 100% recycled polyester

“ As a purpose-driven brand, Costa Sunglasses recognizes the immense role businesses can play in protecting and preserving our resources for future generations. We don’t take this responsibility lightly, and strive for continual, meaningful progress.”

- J ohn Sanchez, Vice President Product Strategy

PACKAGING UPDATES Most recently, as part of our ongoing efforts to Kick Plastic®, we’ve implemented a paper alternative for single-use plastic poly bags for our apparel lines. The new Vela™ FSC™ certified paper bags are weather-resistant, transparent, and curbside-recyclable where available. In the first six months of launching this innovative packaging, we’ve eliminated the use of more than 1 million plastic poly bags.

COMMUNITY X CONSERVATION It’s not just what we do. It’s who we are. A brand model that ties deep to our roots and hasn’t wavered in our 40 years of existence. Much like the mangroves' role in our beloved watery world, Community X Conservation is what gives Costa life. Everything we do flows from it. It’s what makes us more than just a sunglass brand. It’s where we find our sense of purpose - a higher calling if you will.

11

is at the heart of everything we do.

A higher calling to protect the waters we love, to connect those, like us, that truly come to life on the water, and to conserve the life within. Amidst our global pursuits to see what’s out there, it’s hard not to fall in love with the wild places we discover and the people that call them home. It’s in those special moments together by the water—when

you pause to appreciate the beauty of a painted sunrise, have a long conversation waiting for the storm to pass, share in the excitement of an epic catch, or relive the day with drinks by the fire – that you realize, water unites us all. It’s the commonality that ties us to our ever-growing community of ambassadors, pros, lodges, cause partners, vendors, retailers and customers, and ultimately, what fuels our ongoing commitment to conserve our resources.

A commitment that’s played out through the combination of our own conservation initiatives as well as supporting organizations and partners who believe in the same things we do. Whether it's diving in immediately, navigating the big tasks, consistently showing up for the seemingly “small” things, or taking on unchartered waters, we use our resources to amplify the impact of our partners and make a difference. Because if there’s one thing we’ve learned along the way, it’s that when we all come together, we have the greatest impact for conservation.

The Marlin Fly Project marks the first recorded billfish research campaign completed on fly tackle. Findings will help fill crucial data gaps on an understudied Striped Marlin population, which is vital for the protection and management of this highly migratory species (HMS).

Community-first nonprofit and original Costaborn project, Indifly, joined the mission to meet with the community of San Carlos and assess a potential social impact project. Inspired by both the people and operation, Indifly plans to innovate ways for this vital community to write their own future.

Costa Pros from across the globe, the Marlin Fly Project successfully deployed 15 satellite tags (in a mere 24 hours) followed by 20 traditional spaghetti tags. Our friends at Los Locos have set up a unique operation that works directly with the locals of Southwestern Baja to support this one-of-a-kind community through angling tourism. In addition to an unforgettable angling and field science experience, the goal of the Marlin Fly Project was also to engage with this community and leave a lasting impact.

14

Building on Costa’s OneCoast initiative for emergency preparedness, our partner Finns West outfitted the Los Locos operation and guideboats with safety equipment and medical training.

15

Costa partnered with Travel Creel, who hosted cooking classes in the community, and sourced produce, meats and seafood from local fishermen and farmers to prepare dinners each night to feed our crew.

We participated in organized cleanups along San Carlos’ coastline, and on the final night hosted local guide families for a celebration, in gratitude for their hospitality and guidance. Our aim has always been to do good work that the local community can be passionate about and proud of.

Moving forward, the Marlin Fly Project will continue its mission to create advocates for this fishery locally and globally, by fostering dynamic relationships and supporting this ecosystem and the people who depend on it.

COSTA INITIATIVES + PROGRAMS

Costa commissioned

Throughout the last 40 years of pursuits and adventures, the need to protect the watery world we all call home has only grown in importance and urgency. This higher calling has inspired the creation of many impactful Costa-owned conservation initiatives, including Kick Plastic® and OneCoast, and programs, including Costa Compete + Conserve, and Trout Unlimited Costa 5 Rivers.

plastic waste.

Out of concern for the immense amount of plastic in the ocean and our waterways, Costa started the Kick Plastic® initiative in 2015 to reduce the use of single-use plastic in our own operations and encourage the communities and events we work with to do the same. Fishing captains, guides, outfitters and lodges from around the world have pledged, as Kick Plastic® Ambassadors, to eliminate single-use plastic water bottles from their operations and replace them with reusable bottles from our Kick Plastic® partners. Every year more than 500,000 single-use plastic water bottles are avoided by Costa Kick Plastic® captains, guides and outfitters through the use of reusable options. In addition, eye care professionals across the country participate in the Kick Plastic® Ambassador program by sending in their polycarbonate lenses to our recycling partner. Since launching in 2019, more than 14 tons of polycarbonate lenses have been collected from our eye care partners for recycling. Polycarbonate lenses collected through the Kick Plastic® Ambassador program have been recycled into items such as plastic lumber, play sets, buckets, containers, frisbees, stadium seats, carpet, bracelets and traffic cones.

PLASTIC PROBLEM + SOLUTION Every year, consumers use millions of tons of plastic just once before throwing it away—and far too much of it ends up in our oceans. Plastic can now be found in almost every aquatic habitat on earth, and it's estimated that nearly 9 million tons of plastic end up in the ocean each year. Reducing our use of single-use plastic raises awareness of the larger problem of ocean plastic pollution. It gets people thinking and talking about ways they can reduce their reliance on single-use plastic and encourages ocean-friendly alternatives.

WOLLASTON LAKE LODGE Wollaston Lake Lodge, a world-class fishing lodge in northern Saskatchewan, Canada, offers one of the finest fishing experiences in North America. They are all-in on eliminating single-use plastic water bottles at the lodge, an effort that was logistically challenging given its remote location. Wollaston’s efforts to Kick Plastic® demonstrate their deep resolve to protect the watery world and inspires clients to do the same.

“ Costa’s Kick Plastic® initiative has made me very aware of the impacts of single-use plastic waste. By incorporating a simple thing such as using reusable water bottles and drinkware every day throughout the lodge we have minimized, tremendously, the amount of plastic waste. I try to do what I can to protect our resources, and I believe if we all take these small steps, it can lead to bigger impact.” - Captain Moe Newman, Journey South Outfitters, Costa Pro + Kick Plastic® Ambassador

MIAMI INTERNATIONAL BOAT SHOW National and global consumer events serve as a great opportunity to generate awareness surrounding Kick Plastic® and get people onboard. We continue our long-standing partnership with the Miami International Boat Show (MIBS), annually hosting the Costa Conservation Village, which highlights Costa-owned programs and initiatives as well

as the work of our cause partners, through speaking opportunities and tabling. In addition, Costa filteredwater stations are placed at key points around the show, offering reusable water containers for sale to help reduce the amount of plastic waste. At MIBS 2021 and 2022, Costa Kick Plastic® water filling stations replaced the equivalent of 10,000 single-use plastic water bottles.

The coasts are places we ALL love to explore and places we strive to protect. The mission of OneCoast is to bring relief to our coastal family and friends affected by natural disasters. After Hurricanes Harvey, Irma and Maria ravaged our coasts in 2017, Costa launched OneCoast to bring relief to affected communities through the purchase of OneCoast Costa apparel, direct donations, awareness and volunteering.

As fishing guides, they know the waters better than anyone, and were able to use their vessels for rescue missions. They worked around the clock on drop sites for critical supplies, clearing debris, delivering food and water to families in need, hiring local fishing guides for cleanup efforts, and getting the word out to drum up support throughout the industry. On November 4, 2022, Costa donated $50,000 to Captains for Clean Water’s Emergency Disaster Relief Fund at their Annual Restore Gala in Fort Myers, Florida. The full donation was used to help those impacted by Hurricane Ian. Costa has continued to lead the charge, using its voice and leveraging media relationships to help bring awareness to the need, all while helping direct other brands and industry partners to join in the effort to make a difference. We’re proud to be a part of the angling community, where we’ve seen countless brands, organizations and individuals step up and band together to provide as much help as possible.

WARF

An extension of OneCoast, Costa also partnered with the International Game Fish Association (IGFA) in 2017 to create the Worldwide Anglers Relief Fund (WARF) - a fund that provides financial support to captains, guides and crew members in the wake of major natural disasters. Professional, recreational angling is often the cornerstone of local coastal economies, and the ability for these small businesses and entrepreneurs to get back on their feet after natural disasters is critical to re-establishing the cultural and financial well-being of the areas in which they operate. To date, the WARF has distributed a total of $275,000 to recreational angling associations in Florida, Texas, Louisiana, Puerto Rico, Belize, Louisiana, The Bahamas, and Montana to help local captains and guides recover from natural disasters.

HURRICANE IAN + CFCW DONATION On September 28, 2022, Hurricane Ian made landfall as a Category 4 hurricane, causing catastrophic damage to Southwest Florida, home to many Costa partners and pros. Costa, Captains for Clean Water and the fishing community in our home state of Florida were some of the first responders to jump into action after the hurricane.

19

'#FLIESFOR' EFFORTS

“ In the aftermath of Hurricane Dorian, I had this idea of putting up a dozen of my steelhead flies on Instagram to see if I could personally raise more money than I could by just writing a check. What started as one auction of flies, turned into this real grassroots effort of auctions for flies, art, guided fishing trips, manufacturer provided items like rods and reels and more. Since then, anglers from all over the world have come together numerous times to raise more than $650,000 to provide support when the unexpected hits. Having such an industry leading brand, like Costa, on board brings so much awareness to this cause and inevitably inspires others to jump in.” - Josh Mills, #FliesFor Community Organizer / Backcountry Hunters & Anglers Corporate Conservation Partnerships Coordinator

RED RIDER In 2021, angling artist Ed Anderson designed the ‘Red Rider’ sticker, raising $10,000 for Hurricane Ida relief through WARF.

“ At our very core as individuals and as a company, lies the belief that we are nothing

without our communities. Even if that means sacrificing normal business operations to make sure we (Costa) are doing our part to help when it's needed. When Ian hit, we hit the ground running as soon as the storm passed. While still completing the necessary work at night and in the early mornings, we, through the support of the communities on the east coast of Florida, were able to transport over 30,000 lbs of relief supplies to the affected communities on the west coast. Over the course of three weeks, our team logged over 6,500 miles and worked tirelessly to provide relief. This is who we are. Next time you buy something, ask yourself... Am I putting my money into a company that is giving back? ”

- Nick Jones, Sales Rep (MN, WI, IL)

In 2021, Costa Sunglasses expanded its longtime support of bass fishing with the introduction of Costa Compete + Conserve— a contingency program that not only awards the highest placing angler wearing Costa Sunglasses in select tournament trails, but also donates to one of five conservation partners on the angler’s behalf. An industry first, the popular bass fishing contingency program has proved to be highly successful, with more than 1,500 members and 325 supported tournament trails. For every angler payout, a corresponding cash donation is made to one of five organizations Costa identified as directly supporting freshwater conservation efforts. Since launching, more than $71,000 has been donated to: + American Rivers + Bass Fishing Hall of Fame + Friends of Reservoirs + Johnny Morris Conservation Foundation + National Fish & Wildlife Foundation

21

Costa launched Compete + Conserve following a longtime desire to lead the charge on conservation awareness in bass fishing. Building off the model of popular angler reward programs, Costa added its own touch, finding a way for bass anglers–from the top professional to the weekend fisherman–to play a part in the preservation and improvement of freshwater fisheries.

COSTA CLEAN WATER MATTERS: MATTERS:

In 2022, Costa partnered with Major League Fishing (MLF) Fisheries Management Division to organize a series of cleanups called Costa Clean Water Matters. Bass Pro Tour anglers, including Costa Pros Kevin VanDam, Casey Ashley, and Dakota Ebare, participated alongside local college and high school students to spend half-days collecting trash near the event sites at Lake of the Ozarks, James River, Lake Champlain and Cayuga Lake.

In 2014, Costa spearheaded the TU Costa 5 Rivers Program to create fishing clubs on college campuses across the country to engage with the next generation of anglers. Today, there are 75 clubs with more than 2,500 members nationwide.

GOOD TIMES. WITH GOOD PEOPLE. DOING GOOD STUFF. Trout Unlimited (TU) Costa 5 Rivers is a nationwide network of conservation-minded college fly-fishing clubs. VISION: To create the most empowered, educated, and engaged generation of conservation-minded college fly anglers in history. VALUES: Conservation, education, stewardship, community, fun, respect, inclusivity, growth, engagement, and leadership.

23

As the capstone of the TU Headwaters Youth Program, 5 Rivers clubs seek to engage current and aspiring fly anglers on their campuses nationwide, being active in all things fly-fishing; club meetings, regional rendezvous, film screenings, tying nights, networking, fishing trips, industry access, and above all — conservation and stewardship.

In an effort to build community and engage members, Costa rebranded TU Costa 5 Rivers in 2021. As part of the rebranding, Costa launched 5 Rivers on the fly.fishing platform to give members access to Costa, Trout Unlimited, each other, and the resources of other clubs nationwide.

In 2021, University of Victoria (British Columbia) became the first Canadian TU Costa 5 Rivers Club.

For the first time in Trout Unlimited’s 60+ year history, and out of 420 clubs, a TU Costa 5 Rivers Club (University of Georgia) received the prestigious Silver Trout Award in 2022.

Every TU Costa 5 Rivers Club President also serves as a Costa college ambassador for their campus.

COMMITMENT TO COMMUNITY X CONSERVATION EVOLVING OUR EFFORTS TO PROTECT THE WATERY WORLD As part of our commitment to Community X Conservation, Costa has spent the past 40 years developing meaningful partnerships with missionaligned organizations to help drive awareness of critical issues affecting our watery world. Beneath the surface, we donate annually to these causes. But what we really pride ourselves on more so than just writing checks, is how we show up. Our team serves as partners, voices, and stewards to support those who are driven to protect our resources, just like we are.

SUPPORT Inspired by their undertaking of the difficult task of educating the community on complex fisheries management and their willingness to step into the unknown to protect key Atlantic species like Striped Bass, False Albacore and Redfish, Costa became the inaugural brand sponsor of ASGA in 2021, and has been committed to supporting their work through grassroots and monetary support, as well as amplifying messaging to a national audience. Costa stands behind ASGA’s stance that all our businesses and lives are made better with more fish in the water.

and engaging through grassroots models to maximize participating and commenting lead to protecting our fisheries for the next generation. ASGA STRIPER SYMPOSIUM Capping off a spring of Striped Bass attention and community action to protect the fishery, the inaugural ASGA Striped Bass Symposium took place on Cape Cod in May 2022. Presented by Costa Sunglasses and Cheeky Fishing, preceding their annual Schoolie Tournament, this event aimed to further unify Striped Bass enthusiasts, foster productive discussion and bridge the gap between the science and recreational communities. THE ALBIE PROJECT False Albacore have a cult following throughout the Atlantic coast. For inshore light tackle and fly anglers, there aren’t many species that put up the fight or generate visual feeds that False Albacore do. Quite simply, anglers love chasing "albies." Costa anglers and much of the ASGA membership depends on them, but unfortunately, there is no management or scientific understanding for this important species. ASGA recognized how valuable this species is to so many. Levering their network, and with the backing of Costa, ASGA launched The Albie Project in fall 2022. To date, the Association collaborated with the New England Aquarium to deploy over 60 acoustic tags to track coastwide movements, embarked

BILLION OYSTER PROJECT Billion Oyster Project is a New York City-based nonprofit organization with the goal of restoring one billion oysters to the New York Harbor by 2035. BILLION OYSTER PARTY Costa began its partnership with Billion Oyster Project as a way to reach a new audience outside of the endemic fishing community that’s just as passionate about protecting the same watery world we are. Never missing an excuse to party (and enjoy oysters), the Costa team attended the organization’s biggest event of the year in

2021 and 2022, the Billion Oyster Party, to help raise funds and awareness for the local oyster restoration project.

BIMINI BIOLOGICAL FIELD STATION FOUNDATION (BIMINI SHARK LAB) The mission of the Bimini Shark Lab is to advance knowledge and awareness of sharks, rays, and other marine species. 2022 FALL OPTICAL SHOOT Summer 2022, Costa Sunglasses traveled to Bimini to highlight the Bimini Shark Lab in their 2022 fall optical shoot and campaign.

The project began in 2011 as a dart-tagging study, relying on scientists and guides, to tag fish and record recaptures as a way to determine if Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission’s (FWC) creation of the Special Permit Zone (SPZ) in 2011 was providing effective management. With more than 1,000 Permit dart-tagged, and results showing that only a couple of Keys’ Permit were recaptured outside the SPZ, the study proved that the SPZ was large enough to protect the Keys’ fishery. The next step in Project Permit was to understand Permit movements and habitat use. In this study, more than 150 Permit were outfitted with acoustic tags that enabled scientists to track Permit movements. One of the most important takeaways from this project, which occurred from 2013-2019, was that nearly 70 percent of Lower Keys flats Permit migrate to Western Dry Rocks (WDR) to spawn. These findings informed the 2018 expansion of the SPZ’s Permit spawning season closure to include the month of April, and the FWC’s 2021 decision to establish a no-fishing closure at the site to protect vulnerable Permit and other species during their spawning season.

BONEFISH & TARPON TRUST (BTT) BTT's mission is to conserve Bonefish, Tarpon and Permit — the species, their habitats, and the larger fisheries they comprise. PROJECT PERMIT Project Permit is a more than decade-long Permit conservation program funded by Costa, with support from the Lower Keys Fishing Guides Association and the March Merkin Permit Tournament, that seeks to conserve and restore the Keys’ iconic Permit fishery. SPONSORSHIP & EVENTS Costa carries on its legacy as one of BTT’s longest brand sponsors as a Platinum Partner. In addition, Costa plays a role in their NYC and Florida Keys’ Awards Dinner & Ceremonies each year, and in 2022, was the presenting sponsor of BTT’s 7th International Science Symposium & Flats Expo (October 2022). The triennial event brought together stakeholders from across the world of flats fishing — anglers, guides, industry leaders, government agencies, scientists, artists and writers – to celebrate and advance conservation.

CAPTAINS FOR CLEAN WATER (CFCW) CFCW is a grassroots 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that fights to restore and protect Florida’s water resources.

“ We're convinced that if everyone knew about the issues impacting our waters they'd be lining up to protect them. That's where we come in."

- Captains for Clean Water

SPONSORSHIP CFCW serves the very waterways where Costa was born, where our brand roots run deep, and where so many Costa team members, pros and partners call home. As such, we’re proud to be a legacy partner and help advance their mission to restore the Everglades and protect Florida’s waters through awareness, education, outreach, and advocacy.

opposition against the bill. With more than 156,000 emails and 1,500 calls to legislators, 50,000 petition signatures, and several middle-of-the-night emergency trips to the State Capitol to publicly oppose SB2508, the bill was vetoed in a landmark moment for clean water.

“When we realized the severity of SB2508, I immediately started rallying the troops to head to Tallahassee the next day. I knew we didn’t have time to spare, and our community of guides knew the value of sacrificing a day's pay on the water to jump into action. We had 100+ captains and guides driving and flying in from all over the state on multiple occasions, and Costa was there every step of the way to help make it possible. Without hesitation Costa helped cover travel costs. Costa teammates sat in the Senate fighting and testifying alongside us, and Costa used their platform to help generate support across the industry.” - Capt. Daniel Andrews, Captains For Clean Water Executive Director and Co-Founder

Since their inception in 2016, this small organization of local fishing guides have capitalized on grassroots efforts to make huge strides in political ground and getting the outdoor industry (and beyond) on board in the fight for clean water. SB2508 February 2022, the Florida Senate filed Senate Bill 2508, a dangerous piece of legislation that posed a major threat to Everglades restoration and clean-water progress. (The bill would have undone years of progress and guaranteed more harmful discharges to the coasts, more toxic algae, less water to the Everglades, and incalculable economic and environmental losses that harm all Floridians.) CFCW acted immediately, organizing grassroots efforts and leading a groundswell of

HURRICANE IAN Hurricane Ian made landfall on September 28, 2022 as a Category 4 hurricane, causing catastrophic damage to Southwest Florida, home to many Costa partners and pros. Being in the heart of the storm, and despite some losing their own homes, it was no surprise that CFCW advocates were some of the first on the scene. Costa was honored to follow their lead and support as they set up drop sites for critical supplies, cleared debris, and delivered food and water to families in need.

“ Fishing guides don’t wait for someone else

to take the lead on how to fix a problem, we get to work and do what needs to be done. Hurricane relief isn’t what our organization was created to do, but since this directly impacted the people that fight with us for clean water, it was our turn to fight for them– and Costa gets that. Always a phone call away, Costa has been on the ground alongside us to help with emergency relief efforts since day one. We’re incredibly grateful for their ongoing support, and know that together, we will continue to rebuild this devastated fishing community.”

sense of normalcy, productivity, and a day’s pay, since many were out of work due to the storm. Select individuals responding to the call to help with Hurricane Ian relief efforts were acknowledged at the 2022 CFCW Restore Gala, including Costa’s very own, Capt. Nick Jones.

- Capt. Chris Wittman, Captains for Clean Water Co-Founder

STEWARD OF THE YEAR AWARD In 2018, Costa partnered with CFCW to create ‘Costa’s Captain for Clean Water Steward of the Year Award”. Announced at Costa’s annual ICAST party, the award acknowledges individuals in the industry who are using their platforms to bring awareness to Florida’s water quality issues. Shortly following, CFCW established the Captains for Clean Water’s Emergency Disaster Relief Fund to help those impacted by Hurricane Ian get back on their feet. Costa announced a $50,000 donation to the fund at the CFCW annual Restore Gala in November 2022.

In 2021, Costa Pro Capt. Carter Andrews was the recipient, and in 2022, Costa’s longest tenured Pro Capt. Flip Pallot received the honor.

That same week, in addition to attending the CFCW Industry Summit, Costa hired Southwest Florida fishing guides for a day of hurricane cleanup, and to provide a

INTERNATIONAL GAME FISH ASSOCIATION (IGFA)^ IGFA is committed to the conservation of game fish and the promotion of responsible and ethical angling practices. PARTNERSHIP Not only is IGFA the official record keepers and rule makers of sportfishing since 1939, the non-profit organization is also a global leader in the conservation of game fish and the education of youth anglers. Costa has been a long-time supporter of IGFA and its efforts to ensure recreational anglers are represented at local, national and international levels, and that the game fish we revere are sustainably managed for future generations. INTERNATIONAL GREAT MARLIN RACE (IGMR) As part of that ongoing commitment, Costa is the presenting sponsor of the IGMR. Recreational anglers, armed with cutting-edge satellite tag technology, become citizen scientists and deploy tags on the billfish they catch. These tags transmit data to researchers who learn more about billfish biology and how the fish interact with their habitat. Understanding where these animals go and how they utilize their habitat provides invaluable data to scientists and resource managers to help ensure long-term billfish conservation. The IGMR has fundamentally changed the way that scientists, anglers, and policymakers understand billfish. Three satellite tags used in Costa’s inaugural Marlin Fly Project tagging mission (December 2022) were part of the IGMR.

HLM TOURNAMENTS As part of Costa’s strategy to protect and positively impact our Florida Keys’ fisheries and waterways, Costa values its partnerships with local mission-aligned organizations like HLM. passion of the fly angler and powering free enterprise to transform these indigenous homelands into sustainable, world-class fishing destinations.

Wind River Inter-Tribal Council unanimously approved the project. In partnership with Eastern Shoshone and Northern Arapaho Tribes Fish & Game, the effort to empower the community and create sustainable livelihoods on the Reservation is well underway. Costa continued their commitment to Indifly and the Wind River Project with a donation of $50,000 in both 2021 and 2022 to further these efforts. ADDITIONAL SUPPORT Bringing awareness to the project, Costa Films™ produced ‘Indifly: Wind River’ which launched in January 2022, and in August 2022, Costa hosted a media trip to garner coverage with national and broad market media outlets.

WIND RIVER Indifly was born out of a Costa-led project to help a village deep in the heart of Guyana’s rainforest develop a fly-fishing ecotourism business. Costa’s bold effort spawned an organization with a vision of sustainable local economies that empower communities to conserve natural resources and a world in which indigenous peoples are empowered and inspired by entrepreneurship and environmental stewardship. With successful projects currently operating at Rewa Eco-Lodge in Guyana and in Anaa, French Polynesia, Indifly began its first domestic project in the United States. Home to the Eastern Shoshone and Northern Arapaho Tribes, the Wind River Indian Reservation is one of the most spectacular wild and remote places in the lower 48. The 2.3 million acre reservation includes more than 1,100 miles of streams and 265 lakes. Rich in culture, history, and natural resources, the residents of Wind River face many challenges to protect their pristine resources including barriers to youth engagement in the outdoors, limited management and enforcement resources, and an unemployment rate of more than 70 percent. So far, Indifly has invested many years on the Reservation learning about the culture of each Tribe, developing relationships built on trust, and assessing viability of an Indifly project. During this time, Indifly successfully developed key relationships, and in October 2018, the

We do this by listening to local experts and those who live in these areas. Much of Costa’s advocacy work supports inclusive, equitable and responsible access to waterways along with education about protecting these waterways for the next generation.

Whether through education or product development, one of our main efforts is to reduce the amount of plastic entering the waste stream. We encourage our local partners to reduce single-use plastic whenever possible, and are developing eyewear like our Untangled™ Collection, made from recycled fishing nets, to explore circularity in the products we manufacture.

Costa’s OneCoast initiative helps communities that have been devastated by hurricanes through financial support and boots on the ground cleanup efforts. In conjunction with IGFA, we’ve donated more than $275,000 through WARF to support recovery and restoration following natural disasters in Montana, the Gulf Coast and the Caribbean. To prepare for climate-related event impacts, Costa is training fishing guides to be first responders in their local communities. Costa is part of EssilorLuxottica, which has sustainability deeply rooted at its core. Its Eyes on The Planet sustainability program includes the Company’s commitment to climate change, and its first major step is to become carbon neutral in its direct operations (Scope 1 and 2) in Europe by 2023 and worldwide by 2025. In this respect, its operations in Italy and France became carbon neutral at the end of 2021.

Billions of people around the globe rely on our oceans, lakes, rivers and seas for their livelihood and their sustenance. Costa’s community calls these places home and depends on these marine and coastal spaces to fulfill their personal and professional lives. As a brand, and as individuals, we strive to sustainably use and conserve our planet’s precious resources. From sourcing recycled materials for our products, to encouraging fishing guides and outfitters to ditch single-use plastics in their operations, to participating in beach cleanups, to providing financial support to like-minded groups to further ocean conservation, Costa takes its commitment to protect the watery world seriously.

Costa’s cause partners also include organizations that work to conserve terrestrial and inland freshwater systems, protect natural habitats, halt the loss of biodiversity and prevent the extinction of threatened species.
